Cannes 2016: 11 the most expected films in the festival program
The 69th annual Cannes Film Festival was traditionally held in the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès on the French Riviera from 11 to 22 May 2016. First of all we would like to present you the list of the most expected films in the festival program.

Out-of-competition film by Woody Allen called “Café Society” with Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg opened the festival. The film is about a young man who dreams to find a job in the film industry and immerses himself in secular Hollywood Life. This is the third American director’s work, along with “Hollywood ending” 2002 and “Midnight in Paris” 2011, that opened the festival.

“Juliet”

“It's Only the End of the World”
Film by director and Cannes Jury Prize winner, Xavier Dolan, tells the story of a writer, who after many years has returned to his native land to tell his relatives about his deadly disease. The film gathered many French stars: Marion Cotillard, Vincent Cassel, Léa Seydoux acted there, and the main role was played by handsome Gaspard Ulliel.
“Elle (She or Her)”
Psychological thriller “Elle” by Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven has nothing in common with the film of the same name – movie about relationships between man with computer program. This film is about a successful woman, the head of a big company, who has been raped twice in her own house and decided to revenge the rapist. 63-year-old actress Isabelle Huppert played the main role.
The Cannes Festival 2016: Winners
The jury, headed by George Miller announced the winners and handed out prizes. The main prize is “Palme d'Or” or “Golden Palm” went to Ken Loach for his work “I, Daniel Blake”. By the way, this is the second Loach’s Gold Palm: for the first time the director was awarded in 2006 for the film “The Wind That Shakes the Barley”.

In a parallel program “Un Certain Regard” Juho Kuosmanen from Finland won with the film “The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki”. Frenchman Benjamin Ude received prize for the best Director Debut, “The Golden Camera”, for his film “The Divine”.
French actor Jean-Pierre Léaud was awarded the honorary “Palme d'Or”.
